About the Program
An Education Day Grant provides financial support enabling chILD physicians and families to access live patient education locally. These events facilitate family connections and community interaction.
Events may be structured as:
- Half-day programming (2–4 hours)
- Full-day programming (6–8 hours)
- Combined with additional social programming
Funding Amounts
Typical grant amounts range between $1,000–$3,000, determined case by case based on:
- Expected attendance numbers
- Regional event costs
- Additional funds are available for virtual attendance options and supplemental social programming
Allowable costs include course materials, meeting space, A/V support, snacks, and beverages. Funding is limited to direct event costs; local sponsorships are strongly encouraged.
Guidelines & Suggestions
- Educational topics must relate to chILD patient care and support, delivered by qualified professionals
- A chILD Foundation-affiliated physician or hospital must participate in planning and implementation
- Events with a live stream or virtual component to expand involvement to the entire chILD community are highly encouraged
- Childcare and patient participation options are encouraged to reduce barriers
- Groups must use correct chILD Foundation branding; all promotional materials require Foundation approval
Eligibility Requirements
- Target audience must be chILD patients, families, or caregivers
- A physician or hospital affiliated with the chILD Foundation or chILDRN must serve on the planning committee
- Funding requests must be submitted a minimum of 4 weeks before the event
- Funding is typically issued after the event takes place; exceptions may be made for deposits or pre-arranged vendor payments
- Annual allocation per group: one half-day educational event, one full-day educational event, and one meet-up or activity. Social programming accompanying an educational event does not count against activity eligibility.
Required Follow-Up Materials
All materials must be submitted within 4 weeks after the event. Groups that fail to submit on time may lose reimbursement eligibility.
- One-page event summary: attendee numbers by category, programming description, participant feedback, impact assessment, partnerships, and media coverage
- Final budget spreadsheet comparing estimates to actual costs with receipts
- Attendance list with participant names and email addresses
- Digital photos and/or videos with appropriate family releases
- Copies of all promotional materials (flyers, posters, email invitations)
